The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium presents his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

On the 25th February 2016, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, Patrick Vercauteren Drubbel presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

 

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

 

Vercauteren Drubbel was born in Gent (Belgium) on 16th June 1952 and obtained a Master in Law and a Master in Notarial Studies. Ambassador Vercauteren Drubbel joined the Belgian Foreign Service in 1981.

 

He served his first diplomatic post from 1983 to 1985 in Colombia, and consequently, from 1985 to 1988, he returned to Brussels as Director of the Office of the State Secretary for Foreign Trade.

 

After that, he was posted subsequently in Spain to NATO (Belgium), in the Netherlands and as a Consul General in Milan (Italy).

 

Between 1999 and 2000, he was Head of the Office of the Belgian Minister for Foreign Affairs.

 

Ambassador Vercauteren Drubbel was Ambassador of Belgium in Morocco, Mauritania and Cape Verde. In 2009, he was named Director General at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Brussels, after which he was appointed as Ambassador in France and Morocco.

 

Since 2015, he has been the Belgian Ambassador in Rome, Malta and San Marino and Permanent Representative to the Rome-based UN Agencies.

 

Ambassador Vercauteren Drubbel is married to Mrs. Alessandra Vercauteren Drubbel and has six children.
