Il-President ta’ Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca dalgħodu nediet The President’s Ball b’risq il-Malta Community Chest Fund li se jsir fis-27 ta’ Ġunju li ġej. Il-President spjegat kif ir-raġuni għalfejn dan il-ballu se jsir f’Għawdex, hija għaliex it-tempji tal-Ġgantija mhumiex biss ġawhra unika f’Għawdex, iżda għaliex dan huwa post uniku fid-dinja. Il-President spjegat kif il-Malta Community Chest Fund qed tkompli tissielet għaliex trid tibqa’ tgħin kemm tiflaħ b’mod speċjali lil dawk Maltin u Għawdxin li qed jiġu bżonn it-terapija barra minn Malta. Spjegat kif il-Malta Community Chest Fund qed tħallas kwart ta’ miljun ewro fix-xahar, f’terapija, akkomodazzjoni barra l-pajjiż mhux biss għall-pazjenti iżda wkoll għall-familjari u anki tassisti wkoll fit-trasport li jkun hemm bżonn fil-pajjiż fejn issir it-terapija.
Il-Ministru għal Għawdex Anton Refalo rringrazzja lill-President għal din l-inizjattiva f’Għawdex u appella lill-Għawdxin biex jikkonkorru għal din l-attività unika u fl-istess ħin jingħata appoġġ lill-Malta Community Chest Fund.
Is-Shadow Minister għal Għawdex Chris Said qal li t-tempji tal-Ġgantija f’Għawdex joffru ambjent stupend għal attività prestiġġjuża bħal ma hi The President’s Ball u appella biex l-Għawdxin jieħdu vantaġġ minn okkażjoni tant sabiħa b’risq il-Malta Community Chest Fund.
Iċ-chairman tal-Kumitat ta’ The President’s Ball Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata spjega kif din hija t-tieni edizzjoni ta’ The President’s Ball f’Għawdex hekk kif attivitajiet sbieħ ta’ dan it-tip joffru opportunità għal attività soċjali f’ambjent storiku u tant għani fis-sbuħija tiegħu.
Għall-konferenza tal-aħbarijiet attendiet is-Segretarju Parlamentari Justyne Caruana, u d-Deputat Whip u Kelliem tal-Oppożizzjoni għall-Affarijiet ta’ Għawdex Fredrick Azzopardi, u s-sindku tax-Xagħra Joe Cordina.

Earlier today, the President of Malta, Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca launched The President’s Ball in aid of The Malta Community Chest Fund. This event is going to be held on the 27th June. The President explained that the uniqueness of the Ġgantija Temples both locally as well as internationally is the reason why this venue is chosen as the backdrop for this event.
The President explained that The Malta Community Chest Fund is continuing in its efforts to raise funds because it has to continue being in a position to help as much as possible, especially the Maltese and Gozitan residents who seek help for medical treatment abroad. She explained that the Malta Community Chest Fund is paying out €250,000 monthly to be used for therapy; for provision of accommodation to patients as well as their relatives; and for transport expenses for these said patients and relatives when they are abroad.
The Minister for Gozo, Anton Refalo thanked the President for this initiative in Gozo and encouraged fellow Gozitans to partake in this unique initiative, whilst simultaneously helping The Malta Community Chest Fund.
The Shadow Minister for Gozo Chris Said explained that the Ġgantija Temples offer the ideal setting for such a prestigious event and he too appealed to the people of Gozo to take advantage of this occasion to help the Malta Community Chest Fund.
The Chairman of the Committee of The President’s Ball, Marchesino Daniel de Petri Testaferrata explained how this is the second consecutive edition of The President’s Ball in Gozo, simply because such activities give the opportunity of creating the perfect social activity in a beautiful historical setting.
The press conference was also attended by Parliamentary Secretary Justyne Caruana, the Opposition’s Deputy Whip Frederick Azzopardi together with the Mayor of Xagħra Joe Cordina.
