The Ambassador of The Republic of Colombia presents his credentials to The President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

 
On the 4th December, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, H.E. Mr. Juan Sebastián Betancur Escobar presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
 
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
 
Ambassador Juan Sebastián Betancur Escobar was born in Medellin, Antioquia, Colombia, on 7th June 1943. He studied Law in the Pontifical Xaverian University of Bogota.
 
Presently, Ambassador Escobar is Ambassador of Colombia to Italy and Non Resident Ambassador to San Marino. He is also Non Resident Ambassador Designated to Albania, Cyprus and Greece; Permanent Representative to the United Nations Agencies based in Rome, Italy: FAO, (Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations); WFP (World Food Programme) and IFAD  (International Fund for Agricultural Development).
 
As President of Proantioquia (2005 – 2013) he has dedicated himself to mobilize business initiatives focused on improving education, science, technology, entrepreneurship and innovation, because he is convinced that public and private partnerships are essential in building a region and fair country, equitable and competitive.
 
The defense of democratic institutions and their consolidation, as well as the strengthening of the relations among different countries and regions, through growing cooperation and common actions at bilateral and multilateral levels, are key parts of his mission, hence his commitment to justice and peace.
