On 4th December 2018, Rita Adam presented her credentials to President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Rita Adam, born in 1969 in Biel (Switzerland), studied law at the University of Berne and holds a degree as an attorney-at-law.
She joined the diplomatic service of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs in 1999 and was posted to Geneva (Swiss Mission to the UN) and Pretoria for her diplomatic training.
As of 2001 she served as diplomatic officer at the International Organizations and Host Country Policy Section of the Political Division III in Bern, where she was promoted in 2004 to the position of vice head.
In 2005 she was posted as head of the Legal Affairs and Media Section to the Embassy of Switzerland in Paris.
On her return to Berne, in 2008, she was appointed as head of the Multilateral Peace Policy Section of the Political Division IV.
In July 2010 she was appointed vice head of the Directorate of International Law and ambassador of Switzerland to the Principality of Liechtenstein, with residence in Berne.
From September 2014 to September 2018 she headed the Swiss Embassy in Tunis.
Since November 2018 she is accredited as Ambassador of Switzerland to Italy and San Marino, and as of 4th December 2018 also as Swiss Ambassador to Malta, with residence in Rome.
