The Ambassador of the Kingdom of Sweden to Malta presents her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

 

On the 19th September 2016, Ms Cecilia Björner presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca at The Palace, in Valletta.

 

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

 

Cecilia Björner is a Swedish career diplomat, at present Director-General for Development Cooperation. Before that she was ambassador and counter-terrorism coordinator at the Security Policy Department at the Ministry for Foreign Affairs in Sweden and ambassador to Hungary for five years.

 

Björner held a number of positions in the Ministry for Foreign Affairs, including: Project Manager for Internal Management Development Investigation, Deputy Head and Head of the Department for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Minister at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the UN in Geneva, Chef de Cabinet for the Minister of Development Co-operation and Migration, and Minister at the Permanent Representation of Sweden to the UN in Geneva, amongst others. She has also had positions at the Swedish International Development Agency (Sida) and the Swedish Export Guarantee Board, as well as serving for the UN. Cecilia attained a Master of Public Administration from Harvard University and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Economics at Uppsala University.

 

Ambassador Björner speaks Swedish, English, French and some German. Cecilia is married with Professor Ulrik Ringborg who has five children and ten grandchildren.
