The High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia presents her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

On the 16th of June 2016, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, Getrude Kasuba Mwape  presented her credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

 

During the ceremony the President of Malta and the High Commissioner discussed bilateral relations.

 

Ms Mwape entered diplomatic service as Counsellor Political/Administration at Zambia’s Permanent Mission to the United Nations in March 2013. In November 2013, she was promoted to the position of Ambassador and was transferred to the People’s Republic of China with extra accreditation for four other countries. She took up her position in December 2013.

 

In 2015 Ms Mwape was transferred from the People’s Republic of China to the Italian Republic where she has been serving as Zambia’s Ambassador with extra-accreditation to the Republic of Malta, Albania, Croatia, Cyprus and Greece. She is also Zambia’s Permanent Representative to the Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO), World Food Programme (WFP) and International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD).

 

Ms Mwape is a graduate of the University of Zambia where she earned a Master of Education (MEd) degree and a Bachelor of Arts with Education (BA.Ed.) degree. She also has a Master of Philosophy (MPhil) from the University of Cambridge, Selwyn College in the United Kingdom.

 

Prior to being deployed in the Foreign Service, Ms Mwape was a Lecturer/Researcher at the University of Zambia in the Department of Psychology. While at the University of Zambia, Ms. Mwape carried out a lot of research studies related to the development of children for international organisations such as UNICEF, UNESCO, ILO/IPEC, Family Health International and Care International. She also conducted training for various groups in areas such as psychosocial support for children and their families. She also contributed greatly to the development of curricula relevant to society’s needs. Being an ardent supporter of children’s rights, Ms. Mwape coordinated a Child’s Rights Link between the University of Zambia and Sheffield Hallam University in the United Kingdom for around three years. She was also instrumental in introducing service learning in the Department of Psychology at the University of Zambia.
