Il-Fondazzjoni tal-President għall-Ġid tas-Soċjeta’ se twettaq stħarriġ fuq l-użu tal-Internet mmexxi mill-Uffiċju Nazzjonali tal-Istatistika

L-internet sar wieħed mill-ħtiġijiet ewlenin tal-ħajja. Għall-maġġoranza ta’ dawk li jużaw l-internet, il-World Wide Web tirrappreżenta opportunità li ssaħħaħ il-gid. Madankollu, għal oħrajn dan jista’ jwassal għal użu problematiku.

Sal-lum, ma sar l-ebda studju lokalment biex jistmaw il-prevalenza ta’ użu problematiku tal-internet. Il-Fondazzjoni tal-President għall-gid tas-Soċjetà qed twettaq stħarriġ li teżamina użu tal-internet problematiku fost dawk bejn it-18 u t-30 sena. L-istudju se jitmexxa mill-Uffiċċju Nazzjonali tal-Istatistika (NSO) permezz ta’ intervista telefonika komputerizzata b’mod anonimu u kunfidenzjali.

Membri tal-pubbliku huma avżati biex jistennew telefonata mill-NSO matul ix-xahar ta’ Frar fejn ser jiġu mitluba jipparteċipaw f’dan l-istħarriġ.  Kampjun żgħir tal-popolazzjoni se jiġi kkuntattjat.  L-istħarriġ se jieħu madwar 20 minuta biex jitlesta.  Għal aktar informazzjoni dwar dan l-istudju, jekk jogħġobkom ikkuntattjaw il-Fondazzjoni tal-President għall-Ġid tas-Soċjetà fuq 2148 4662 jew [email protected].

THE PRESIDENT’S FOUNDATION IN PARTNERSHIP WITH THE NATIONAL STATISTICS OFFICE (NSO) CONDUCTS RESEARCH ON INTERNET USAGE

The Internet has become one of the major necessities of life. For the majority of Internet users, the World Wide Web represents opportunity that enhances well-being. For others, however, it can lead to problematic use.

To date, no large scale study has been conducted locally to estimate the prevalence of possible Problematic Internet Use (PIU). The President’s Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society is conducting a survey to examine problematic internet use among 18 to 30 year olds. The study will be conducted by the National Statistics Office through an anonymous and confidential computer assisted telephone interview.

Members of the public are advised to expect a telephone call from the NSO during the month of February asking them to participate in this survey. Only a random sample of the population will be contacted, and the survey will take around 20 minutes to complete. For further information about this study please contact the Presidents Foundation for the Wellbeing of Society on 2148 4662 or [email protected].
