President of Malta visits The National Audit Office

  
The President of Malta, H. E. Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, today visited the National Audit Office at Notre Dame Ravelin, Floriana.  The visit coincided with the 200 anniversary since the Audit Office was set up in 1814.  The President was welcomed by the 29th Auditor General, Anthony C. Mifsud, and Deputy Auditor General, Charles Deguara, and all NAO staff. 
 
To mark this anniversary the National Audit Office hosted the XXII Commonwealth Auditors General Conference held earlier this year.
 
During her visit the President unveiled a commemorative plaque after addressing NAO staff in reply to a welcome address by the Auditor General.
 
The ‘Guardian of the Public Purse’ a publication first launched in 2000 was updated by Professors Edward Warrington and Godfrey Pirotta.  A copy was presented to Her Excellency. 
 
Twenty five NAO staff who have been serving the Office for over 15 years were awarded a long service medal by the President. 
 
The President was presented with a cheque for the Malta Community Chest Fund from funds donated by NAO Staff.
