The President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca, visited Moorfields Eye Hospital, during her current working visit in the United Kingdom.
Moorfields Eye Hospital is a specialist NHS eye hospital in London run by Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. Together with the UCL Institute of Ophthalmology, which is adjacent to the hospital, it is the oldest and largest centre for ophthalmic treatment, teaching and research in Europe.
President Coleiro Preca presented a donation on behalf of the Malta Community Chest Fund Foundation to Moorfields Eye Charity, towards their ongoing research projects. The President said that this donation is a sign of gratitude and appreciation towards the care, attention and dedication given to the Maltese patients who use the services of Moorfields Eye Hospital.
In 2015, 52 Maltese patients were treated at Moorfields Eye Hospital.
