The Ambassador of Hungary presents his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

On the 17th September 2015, at the San Anton Palace, Péter Paczolay presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.

Ambassador Péter Paczolay was born in 1956 in Budapest. He attended the Eötvös Loránd University in Budapest, where he received his law degree in 1980. He continued his academic carreer at the University, first as a research assistant, then as an assistant professor, becoming full university professor in 2000. From 1992 he led the Faculty of Law and Political Sciences at the Eötvös Loránt University, and between 1994-98 served as Vice-Dean of the University.

His collaboration with the Constitutional Court of Hungary dates back to the founding of the Court in 1990: between 1990-1996 he served as the Chief Counsellor of the President of the Constitutional Court, then as Secretary-General between 1996-2000. Under the Presidency of Ferenc Mádl, he was appointed Deputy Head of the Office of the President of the Republic, and later in 2005-2006 as Head. He was appointed as a Judge of the Constitutional Court in 2006, assuming the role of Vice-President of the body in 2007 and then President between 2008 and 2015. In 2015 he has been appointed as Ambassador of Hungary to Italy, San Marino, and Malta.

On a European level, Ambassador Paczolay has been a long-time collaborator of the Venice Commission, serving as the international body’s Vice-President between 2009-2011 and Honorary President since 2013. He is the recipient of a number of state decorations.
