The Ambassador of the Lao People’s Democratic Republic presents his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

On the 5th March 2015, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, H.E. Mr. Thongphane Savanphet presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
 
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
 
Ambassador Thongphane Savanphet was born in the Bolikhamxay Province in Lao PDR on June 28th, 1964. Upon Completion of the primary and high school in his native province, Ambassador Savanphet read for a Masters of Arts in Public International Law at Moscow State Institute of International Relations, followed by a Masters of Arts in Diplomatic Studies at the University of Leicester in the United Kingdom
 
Presently, Ambassador Savanphet is the Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Lao People’s Democratic Republic to the United Nations and other International Organisations in Geneva. He is also the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Lao People’s Democratic Republic to Switzerland, and Non-Resident Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece and Turkey.
 
Prior to holding the above mentioned posts, Mr. Savanphet was Director General in the Department of Economic Affairs within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lao People’s Democratic Republic. He occupied this post between 2011 and 2013, both years inclusive. He has served as Deputy Director General of the same department from 2010 to 2011.
 
Between 1996 and 2010, Ambassador Savanphet held various posts within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in the sectors of Social Development, Political and Security Cooperation within the ASEAN Plus Three Division based both in Lao People’s Democratic Republic and Jakarta, Indonesia.
 
Ambassador Thongphane Savanphet is married to Mrs. Dalavanh Savanphet and has three daughters.
