The Ambassador of the Republic of South Korea presents his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca

On the 18th June, at the Presidential Palace in Valletta, Lee Yong-Joon presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.

 
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
 
Ambassador Yong-Joon was born on 13th November 1956 and holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Relations from Seoul National University. After passing his High Diplomatic Service Examination, he joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
 
In 1984, he was made Third Secretary at the Korean Embassy in the French Republic. Subsequently, in 1989 he was appointed First Secretary at the South Korean Embassy in the Kingdom of Thailand. After this, he held various roles within the Office of the President as Assistant Secretary to the President for Foreign Affairs and National Security and Senior Director for Policy Coordination.
 
In 1996, Ambassador Yong-Joon was appointed Director in the North American Affairs Bureau within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a post which he occupied for a year when he was then made Counsellor at the Korean Embassy in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam.
 
Shortly after, in December 2002, Ambassador Lee Yong-Joon was made Deputy Director General for North American Affairs and Head of the Joint Taskforce for the Improvement of SOFA within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs andTrade.
 
He also served on the committee of the North East Asian Cooperation Initiative as Director General for Strategic Planning.
 
In 2008, Lee Yong-Joon was appointed Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, until 2010 when he was accredited as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Malaysia for the following three years. Following this, in 2013, he was made Ambassador for International Relations of the Gyeonggi Province of Korea.
 
Ambassador Yong-Joon is married and has a son and a daughter.
