On the 14th October 2015, at the San Anton Palace, Dr Ahmed Bin Salim Bin Mohamed Baomar presented his credentials to the President of Malta Marie-Louise Coleiro Preca.
During the ceremony, the President of Malta and the Ambassador discussed bilateral relations.
Dr Ahmed bin Salim bin Mohamed Baomar is currently the Ambassador of the Sultanate of Oman to the Italian Republic where he started his assignment on the 12th March 2014.
The Ambassador is also the non-resident Ambassador to the Republic of Albania and non-resident Ambassador designate to Malta, Greece, Romania and Bosnia & Herzegovina. Furthermore, he is accredited to the United Nations Agencies in Rome (FAO, IFAD, WFP).
Ambassador Baomar began his career at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Muscat in May 1991 and since then he has covered the positions of Director of International Agreements Office in the Legal Department, Charge d’Affaires at the Embassy of the Sultanate of Oman in Kuala Lumpur, Director of Diplomatic Courses Office, at the Diplomatic Institute, Deputy Head of the Political Analysis Office in the Minister’s Office, Deputy Head of the Human Resources Department and Director General of the Diplomatic Institute, all within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The Ambassador has a PhD in Political Jurisprudence in Diplomatic Immunity, an MA in International Communications & Diplomacy, and an MA in Diplomatic Studies, a Degree in Computer and IT and a BA in Law.
He is a Professor Emeritus of Public International Law and International Organization at the Faculty of Law of the Sultan Qaboos University, a Member of the Consultative Committee at the History Department, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, Sultan Qaboos University and a member of several committees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
He has participated in many local, regional and international conferences, delivered lectures and published several Research Papers and Books.
